- Pon a cocer el pollo con 10 tazas de agua, el trozo de cebolla y el diente de ajo. Pon un poco de sal. Deja cocer hasta que esté cocido el pollo. Retira la cebolla y el diente de ajo. Saca el pollo y deja enfriar para deshebrar y reserva el caldo.

- Muele los tomates con una taza de agua y añade al caldo de pollo con los vegetales, añade el epazote. Deja a fuego medio por unos 10 minutos o hasta que el caldillo de tomate tome un color rojo más intenso.
- Añade los garbanzos. Sazona a tu gusto con la sal. Saca la rama de epazote ya que solo es para dar sabor y no es muy agradable que te salga en el caldo. Sirve poniendo encima el pollo deshebrado.
